Assembly (continued)

NOTE:

This unit is shipped with Holder A,

Holder B, and shaft bolt installed. The

shaft bolt is a LEFT-HAND thread.

Remove it by turning CLOCKWISE!

1. Align the notch in blade holder

A with the notch in the gear case

ﬂange. Lock the holder and out-

put shaft by inserting a hex wrench

through the locking hole in the gear

case and into the aligned notches.

Hold hex wrench in place until trim-

mer head is tightened.

2. Using the combination spark plug/

screwdriver wrench, remove the

shaft bolt and Holder B. (The shaft

bolt and Holder B are not used with

a trimmer head).

3. Install spacer (C) on Holder A,

matching recess to holder.

4. Using the hex wrench to secure

Holder A, install and hand-tighten

the trimmer head (D) (counter-clock-

wise to install).

5. Remove the hex wrench.

Installing a Trimmer Head

This unit is now completely

assembled and ready to use as

a trimmer.

1. Align the notch in blade holder

A with the notch in the gear case

ﬂange. Lock the holder and out-

put shaft by inserting a hex wrench

through the locking hole in the gear

case and into the aligned notches.

Hold hex wrench in place until shaft

bolt is tightened.

2. Remove the shaft bolt and Holder B

from the gear case shaft.

CAUTION!

Install the blade so its printed sur-

face is visible to the operator when

the brushcutter is in the normal

operating position.

WARNING!

The blade must t at

against the holder ange. The

blade mounting hole must be cen-

tered over the raised boss on blade

Holder A.

WARNING!

Holder B must t ush

against the blade and the splines

engaged to the output shaft.

WARNING!

Do not attach any blade

to a unit without proper installa-

tion of all required parts. Failure to

use the proper parts can cause the

blade to y off and seriously injure

the operator and/or bystanders.

IMPORTANT!

Discard blades that are bent, warped,

cracked, broken or damaged in any way.

Use a sharp blade. A dull blade is more

likely to snag and thrust.

3. Fit the blade over the ﬂange on holder

A.

4. Install Holder B on the output shaft.
